Is 2021 the year of opportunity for executive search?
2020 has been an incredibly strange year for the executive search and wider recruitment industry. With various restrictions being put in place on travel, work and socialising, the job market has fluctuated like never before.
Particularly for firms that operate on an international scale, having to assess risks while keeping in the loop on various measures being put in place by countries of the world has been an added consideration to the already competitive marketplace in which we work.
At G&E Partners, we have seen the hardships experienced first-hand by some of our clients in every corner of the world. However, as anyone in the industry will confirm, determination is crucial to success, which is why we have managed to continue to break records this year.
As we look ahead to 2021, we can begin to see a brighter future for the industry as society starts to fight the war against coronavirus.
Promising signs from early vaccine trials
As we mentioned in a previous blog on how a coronavirus vaccine will benefit the US Construction industry, it has been reported that a number of vaccines have passed initial trials and are showing up to 95% protection against COVID-19.
This is of course welcome news for everyone in terms of safety, but it also poses significant benefits for the businesses that have struggled to cope with the demands that this pandemic has brought.
As vaccinations are hopefully rolled out worldwide in 2021, corporations can begin to put recovery plans in place while looking to bolster their resources with talented candidates who can drive success on an organisational scale.
Continuation of remote working
Although remote working was adopted as a necessary precaution to help limit the spread of COVID-19 between employees, we expect to continue to see it offered in the workplace as more than just an incentive.
According to a study conducted by Buffer, 99% of respondents said they would like to work remotely at least some of the time for the rest of their careers, highlighting the importance of offering flexibility as part of a job role.
Discovering what an individual wants from a specific role and where they want to be in their career is crucial for executive search consultants and recruiters, meaning that remote working will play a much greater role in the wider industry next year.
A greater focus on company culture
When it comes to sourcing and placing candidates, especially at c-suite level, company culture is everything. Without aligning the needs of the candidate to the values of the business, a successful placement is unlikely.
This is something we have previously discussed in a piece on assessing and improving workplace culture, and it could not be more relevant as we head into 2021. The coronavirus pandemic has given employees a chance to reflect on their priorities and what a role needs to give them, and consultants need to be prepared.
At G&E Partners, we adopt a talent management system in order to place mid-management to c-suite level candidates with industry-leading corporations.
Our unique talent management system allows us to go beyond merely interviewing candidates, as we instead take the time to understand what an individual can evidence, and what they can do as the reason they will be hired. Read more about our talent management approach here.
G&E Partners works exclusively with leading c-suite candidates who are aligned to the specific hiring needs of our global clients. To find out how we can help you, please get in touch today.
